CONNECTED TRAVEL: LONELY PLANET MOBILE APPS
Introducing Planeteers.
The Lonely Planet community is an important part of the brand. We reimagined the current mobile platform to include the badge for the most active community members and content creators. The badge marks them a credible resources for guides, trip reports, and recommendations.
VIRTUAL TRAVEL: LONELY PLANET X GOOGLE EARTH
In partnership with Google Earth, Lonely Planet is introducing a new way to travel with a series of specially curated virtual tours hosted on Google Earth Voyager. The digital tours bring some the brand’s favorite guide books to life. Users can virtually explore fantastic sites and cities around the world, read excerpts from the Lonely Planet guides, browse related content from notable Lonely Planet community bloggers, and bookmark locations to their personal bucket list for future trips.
APPLIED TRAVEL: AR WAYFINDING
Lonely Planet wants to be a part of every user’s travel journey from inspiration, to planning, to exploring the destination. The updated mobile app includes a bucket list feature which allows people to plan their trip and save the locations they want visit. Once travel is safe again, the new Lonely Planet wayfinding feature will help guide users on their trip. The feature, powered by Google, is an integrated interface that not only shows users a path to their selected destination, but includes other Lonely Planet content like information on notable sites and other user-recommended destinations.
